cant reinstall organs on HW5

Í reinstalled HW5, installed HW6, however, not enough in the bank.

I can't reinstall all the organs I paid for. I checked iLok and all the organ are active, however I keep getting the message about the organs not installing. What next?

Hello Owen,

Once you've run a newer version of Hauptwerk you won't be able to run an older version unless you completely uninstall Hauptwerk, selecting the option in the uninstaller to remove all files/settings. You would then be able to re-install the older version.

Note also that you would then need to use "File | Install ..." in Hauptwerk to make sure you have the Hauptwerk licensing packages installed: https://www.hauptwerk.com/licensingpackages/

You should then be able to reinstall your organs.

If that doesn't solve it, please use "Help | Create a diagnostic file" and send the resulting file to Francois at support [at] hauptwerk.com ... so that he can see the actual error message(s) that you're getting, and what you did leading up to them.

Couldn't afford hw6, I thought it was a free upgrade.oops.

Since you didn't actually buy a licence upgrade to v6, your v5 licence should still be active anyway (in your iLok dongle, or iLok Cloud), so you shouldn't need to re-activate you v5 licence -- it will still be present and active.

I was going to buy hw6, however, not enough loot in the bank. I did download and install it thinking it was a free upgrade - oops. Anyway I had to back to HW5 which I purchased on the 11th of December 2019; order# 363309

iLok is okay.

How do i Reactivate HW5?

Hello Owen,

[I've merged your new topic with your previous one, so that the relevant background information can be found easily.]

It isn't necessary or possible to re-apply any activation code -- since you didn't actually buy and apply a v6 licence upgrade your existing v5 licence will still be present in your iLok account/dongle, and will still be active there (unless you had specifically deactivated it for some reason).

Please try the following:

- Exit Hauptwerk if it's running.

- Launch iLok License Manager and make sure you're signed in within it.

- If you use an iLok dongle then make sure it's attached to the computer, otherwise if you use iLok Cloud then make sure your iLok Cloud session is open ('File | Open Your Cloud Session' within iLok License Manager).

- Try launching Hauptwerk v5. (Unless you had specifically deactivated your v5 licence for some reason) you should find that Hauptwerk launches because it will still see your existing v5 licence (on your dongle, or in iLok Cloud, whichever you use).

- If it doesn't then look in iLok License Manager, find your Hauptwerk v5 Advanced Edition licence, and right-click on it and activate it (to your dongle, or in iLok Cloud, whichever you use).

If you just want to get your previous v5 settings back (because you uninstalled and re-installed v5 last week as you discussed in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20201 ), then you could use 'File | Restore ...' in Hauptwerk and select your most recent v5 backup (prior to when you tried to upgrade to v6 last week) to restore.

If you didn't specifically make a backup yourself, then you could restore one of Hauptwerk's automatic backups. With default settings Hauptwerk makes an automatic backup weekly in the following folder:

C:\Users\<Your-Windows-account-name>\Hauptwerk\AutomaticBackups

Hence you could use 'File | Restore ...' in Hauptwerk to navigate there and select the most recent file that was prior to when you tried to upgrade.
