I get occasional audio glitches. I've been using Oakland AS using Jake's extension with all three perspectives loaded. Glitches happen every 15 to 20 minutes, it doesn't matter if I'm playing on a full registration or just two stops.
I can see the CPU monitor in HW's performance window spike way into the red. Then after I quit playing I can see it spike two or three more times without anything happening in HW.
The polyphony monitor never moves up more than a couple of green bars and the audio monitor only shows 1 green bar at the most. I have polyphony set at around 15,000. I'm using the 96kHz setting and tried switching to the medium performance level for modeling. Also tired switching back to 48kHz, changing buffer sizes and number of buffers, but the problem still happens.
The computer has an 13th Generation i5-13600K with base speed of 3.50 and 128 GB of ram. RME 803 Audio interface, latest drivers loaded.
I found an article titled "12 background apps to disable for better audio in WIn 11" that proceeded to list 20 things to disable, I disabled all of them, actually un-installed the ones that would let me do so. I have it set to High Performance Power management, nothing is allowed to sleep, all USB power management is disabled.
In HW audio trim is set to -10 and overall volume is at 60%. No Reverb Ir's are loaded.
When playing full out, huge chords and rapid scales, Windows task manager shows HW CPU usage at 8. 2%, so I don't think HW is straining the system, especially since it is just as likely to happen playing a duet on one stop as it is when playing on full organ.
I'm pretty sure this is a Win 11 problem. Task manager shows a bunch of background stuff open, but not using the CPU(I tried disabling a bunch of them that I thought looked unnecessary but I managed to freeze windows at some point).
I'm offline when this happens and no programs or browsers are open except for HW and the RME interface Total Mix.
Anyone have a clue what could be spiking the CPU usage or any other tips for improving audio?
Thanks
