M-Audio card not recognized

PostWed Oct 27, 2021 6:27 pm

Twenty year old PC died.
Replaced motherboard.
All files lost.
Reinstalled windows XP
Reinstalled HW version 4
Reinstalled M-Audio Audiophile 2496 driver.
Problem: HW does not "see" the M-Audio card.
Can put MIDI console output stream through Roland UM ONE MIDI to USB interface and HW sees that and lets me configure and "play" the keyboards.
But that still leaves me without audio output.
Solution?

Hello Coenraads,

Is it possible that you re-installed Windows XP using the original CD/DVD? I looked at the M-Audio driver page and the drivers for the Audiophile requires an installation on Windows XP SP2 or SP3. If you have the original (first release) of Windows XP or Windows XP SP1, it will not work, the drivers are not compatible.

See M-Audio page - https://m-audio.com/support/download/drivers/delta-wdm-5.10.00.5057v3. In the Release Note you will see *This is for Windows XP SP2 Only. Not supported on SP1.

You probably can find and download Win XP SP3 on Microsoft' website.

Hope that helps.
Best regards

Wow! Thanks for the prompt support and setting me on the right track.
Turns out the CD with the drivers that came with the M-Audio card was for Windows 94/98 only.
My bad.
By directing me to the M-Audio website and the correct driver for XP with SP2, I'm now up and running again.
