Unable to Load V7

PostFri Mar 04, 2022 6:57 pm

I just upgraded from 6 to 7 on a 2018 Mac mini, and am unable to load since Safari says it's unable to verify the sender's security (or some such). Is it me, Safari, or Milan?

Hi,

Quite possibly what you mean is when to try to run the HW7 installer you have a warning about "unidentified developer" or "May harm your system". What you need to do to run the installer is:

1. In the Finder on your Mac, locate the app you want to open.

2. Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu.

3. Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.

4. Click Open.

Hope that helps.
Best regards

Merci, François; works like a charm. Later double reading the instructions I see that. Duh to me.

I'm having this same issue on a mac mini m1. It doesn't matter WHAT I do.

I have tried ctrl+clicking and every other combination you can imagine to open this.
I've also kept open the security preferences pane, unlocked that panel and try to click "allow anyways" on the error regarding "libjvm.dylib" but it absolutely will not relent.

I have administrator privileges, I'm clicking allow anyways, opening via ctrl click but 7.0.136 simply will. not. install. All the system will do is prompt me to move it to the trash and half the time it will also close the finder window.

Hello James,

Please try:

- Verify that the downloaded v7 installer file's size and MD5 checksum are exactly as follows:

macOS:
InstallHauptwerk_v7.0.0.136.zip
MD5 checksum: bee6c282bf81464c1fa111bb162f6391
3.16 GB (3,396,476,577 bytes)

(On macOS, you can type md5 <path-to-file> in Terminal to calculate a file's MD5 checksum.)

- If not, try downloading again, until you definitely have a file that matches the above exactly.

- Reboot.

- Then try Ctrl+clicking on the file and select 'Open' again.

Does that solve it?
Best regards, Martin.

I will try that when I get back to my computer, however I’m trying to use the exact same dmg file that successfully installed hw7 on my 2018 Mac mini as well, so I’m doubtful this will make a difference.

Thanks, James.

In that case, please also:

- Make sure that all available macOS updates are applied.

- Try (re-)installing the current version of iLok License Manager ( https://ilok.com/#!home ).

- Reboot after doing those things.
Best regards, Martin.

Well, this is all rather bizarre.

I decided to download the installer for the third time, and it still wouldn't work at first. It said the download was corrupted. So I deleted the app, re-extracted the downloaded .zip file, but this time I tried launching it from a third-party file browser (pathfinder) and it worked. Go figure.

Thanks, James. Evidently macOS moves in mysterious ways! Glad to hear you managed to get it working properly anyway.

John again for Take 2
I’m trying to load HW 7 on a second Mac Mini, used in my vacation home. It’s a late 2012 running the latest update of Catalina (the latest OS that will work on this computer). I cannot get the Installer to run with an Option-click: iLok Manager installed, re-booted, etc. I’m unable to run the Terminal sequence you suggested; after triple checking it returns a syntax error. Attached is a screen shot showing the Terminal window and the Get Info showing the exact size of the download. Any further ideas?

Hello John,

Do you mean that you downloaded a fresh copy of the Hauptwerk installer on your Mac Mini, or that you transferred to it (e.g. via a USB stick) the copy of the installer that you previously installed successfully on your other Mac?

If the former, if you're easily able to try the latter (transfer previously-downloaded copy from your other Mac to this Mac) via a USB memory stick) are you then able to install it successfully?

If that isn't easily possible:

If you right-click on the downloaded installer file and select 'Get Info' does it show the size as exactly as follows?:

InstallHauptwerk_v7.0.0.136.zip - 3,396,476,577 bytes

If you then launch Terminal and type the following line exactly (e.g. copy/paste it, and assuming that you downloaded the file to your Downloads directory):

Code: Select all
md5 Downloads/InstallHauptwerk_v7.0.0.136.zip

... does it report the MD5 checksum as being *exactly* as follows?:

bee6c282bf81464c1fa111bb162f6391

(If the installer file has been unZIPped 'Get Info' will instead report its size as follows: 3,442,837,016 bytes. However, it's better to check it before unZIPping, so that its MD5 checksum can be verified easily too.)
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks, Martin for the tip about transferring the download from the other computer; I hadn’t thought of that. It worked like a charm. I tried downloading the file again just to try to examine it as you described; but it appears to automatically unZip since it shows as an ‘app’ already. The Terminal command which I copied and pasted states there is no such file. But I’m up and running.
Thanks again
