I’ve run into issues with upgrading from HW v4.2 to HW v7 on my 2012 my Mac Mini, almost certainly of my own making while fumble-fingered blundering around during the upgrade process and failing to RTFM.
I’ve got to a point where the upgrade installer seems to work and finish its task, but I see no way of starting Hauptwerk. I suspect something is wrong with the folder structure and where the upgrade has put things, due to my blunderings.
The backstory to this tale of woe is that with 4.2, the machine was running on El Capitan OS v10.11.6. The first thing I did was to try and download the iLok dongle manager, but in doing so realized that the OS needed to be updated which I did to Catalina OS v 10.15.7 (the latest my late 2012 my Mac Mini will handle).
At this point I’d better point out that (a) that I use my VPO for unit organ samples so the upgraded 16GB RAM should be more than sufficient aiui, and (b) I’m aware from reading on this forum that the file structure permissions in Mac OS changed between El Capitan and Catalina, which involved a migration of the HW folders.
Anyway, the iLok dongle manager app now seems to work, but the upgrade doesn’t. Probably mistakenly (no, certainly!!) I manually deleted the 4.2 installation as the HW uninstaller didn’t work for me (yes, I have several backups of my precious voicing adjustment and pistons on separate media). I suspect in all of this that the upgrade process has gone awry and I need start afresh, as it were. It’s not enough to reinstall HW v4.2 as it isn’t compatible with Mac OS 10.15…
Is there any way to recover the upgrade process for HW v7 that anyone can advise? Meanwhile it seems like a certain F Kafka is my new best friend!
With many thanks-in-advance to anyone who can assist.
