No reverb on a stop

PostThu Nov 03, 2022 7:04 am

Hi everybody !

I just discovered that a stop has no reverberation  .
It is a second hand computer, that I own since few months.

My setup : Hauptwerk IV (V4.0).
My sample where there is the problem : Saint-Étienne de Caen. Surround v.2

The stop without reverberation is the Bombarde 16' of the Great manual.

Where do I have to search in Hauptwerk settings to modify that ?

English is not my native language (I am French), so it is not easy for me to search in Hauptwerk notice.

I made a right click on the stop, but it is to modify volume or other, nothing about reverberation.

I am afraid it is a Hauptwerk bug , the voices are recorded with the reverbation !

Reset the voices ??

Can you help me ?

Thank you.

Hauptwerk 4 doesn't supply reverberation, which is in the Caen Surround samples, so this is a question for Sonus Paradisi. Contact through their web site.

Are you sure all the release samples are loaded for that stop, both front and rear, with full releases, no truncation?

You might need to upgrade to a current version of Caen. But the current Caen 2.67 requires Hauptwerk 4.2 or higher, so you'd have to upgrade HW to 7 first.

Thank you for your answer.
I go and contact Sonus Paradisi.

Where can I see if if the all release samples are good for this stop ? You are right, this stop can be not well parametered ?

Sure that the best would be to get a new Hauptwerk version...
But I should have to buy Caen sample too, quite expensive  .

Greetings.

Hello Paradise,

To add to Mark's reply, briefly (since we no longer officially support Hauptwerk v4):

Although Hauptwerk v4 didn't have the ability to add additional reverberation to a sample set, you could truncate samples' release tails (which makes them seem 'drier') by loading via the "Organ | Load organ, adjusting rank ..." function from the main menu. Make sure that that relevant ranks aren't set to be truncated on that screen.

As far as I know (although I could be wrong -- check with them if in doubt), Sonus Paradisi doesn't charge any upgrade fee for the Hauptwerk v5+ version of the sample set for people who already have a licence for the v4 version. (The licence upgrade from v4 to v7 for Hauptwerk itself isn't free, though.)
Best regards, Martin.

The new Caen version should be downloadable under Products on the left side of your Account page at Sonus Paradisi (but don't install that while you're still on Hauptwerk 4.0 since it requires 4.2 or higher). If you didn't buy Caen there, you'd have to contact the reseller you originally bought it from.

I made a reset of the voices, nothing changed.

I asked Sonus Paradisi, fast answer : 'it is a second purchase, it can be a copy', etc.

Pretty sure that it is a bug in the sample  , that the first owner did not notice or he hid to me.

Maybe it is a copy, I don't know.

Next year, I'll see to get a new version of Hauptwerk and of the sample...

In the meantime, I must settle for it.
