Scarlett 2i4 midi out

PostMon May 01, 2023 2:40 am

Hi,

I have a console working with an old Focusrite Saphir. This console has a Midi Boutique decoder + LCD display for combinations which works very fine.

I use also my console with another computer working with the same Hauptwerk settings and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 2nd generation. Console playing (midi in) works very well, but the LCD Display (midi out) don't work.

Is there any setting to do in the Scarlett 2i4 concerning the midi out port?

Thanks a lot for help!

Best regards

I would check that the HW Midi out settings for the 2i4 are the same as your other (working) interface - both should be set as devices for the console output midi stream. HW will warn that one of them is offline when it starts and offer you the option to keep the device configured but mark it temporarily off line; you need to select the option to keep the device configured, but marked offline.

I think there is nothing to set in the 2i4.

Hello Dom,

If you're using Hauptwerk's LCD control system to drive your LCD display, then check:

- On the "General settings | MIDI ports | MIDI OUT ports" screen tab that the column for the relevant MIDI port (e.g. for your Focusrite Scarlett) is ticked in one of the 'Console MIDI IN' rows (probably row 1, if you only have one MIDI OUT port).

- On the "General settings | MIDI LCD panel control ..." screen that the same 'Console MIDI IN' row number (e.g. 1) is selected as the MIDI OUT port for your LCD panel's entry in the left-hand list.
Best regards, Martin.

I wonder if Martin meant ‘console midi out’ rather than ‘console midi in’ in his reply?

Thanks for replies.

I don't use Haupterk's LCD control system.
I use a decoder and LCD display of Midi Boutique. The only thing to do is to set parameters in the decoder to display the right message, and of course, to activate in Hauptwerk the midi out port.

Thanks, Dom.

In that case, and assuming that your Midi Boutique decoder uses Hauptwerk's MIDI Console Status Output System (instead of its LCD system), then as Iain mentioned you'd need to check that:

- On the "General settings | MIDI ports | MIDI OUT ports" screen tab that the column for the relevant MIDI port (e.g. for your Focusrite Scarlett) is ticked in one of the 'Console MIDI IN' rows (probably row 1, if you only have one MIDI OUT port).

- On the "General settings | General preferences | MIDI console status output ..." screen tab that the same 'Console MIDI OUT' row number (e.g. 1) is selected as the MIDI OUT port.
Best regards, Martin.

Now, it works perfect concerning the midi out.

Concerning the display, the midle digit doesn't display the zero. But I think it's another issue that I have to discuss with Midi Boutique

Thanks a lot for your help!
