Assigning outputs to separate mono channels

I think I asked this a good while ago, but I can't find it, and can't remember an answer, so I'll ask again.

I'm running an 8 channel audio setup on Hauptwerk 7 (I'm happy to upgrade to H8, if this is easier there). My speaker layout is (channels in parens):

subwoofer (1-2)                    Center L (5)      Center R (6)

Left R (4)                                                                      Right L (7)

                                                 Console

Left L (3)                                                                       Right R (8)


Now this works fine for "non-surround" sample sets like Mount Carmel Skinner or Menesterol. The problem is when I want to run a full surround sound sample set (like Romsey Abbey) and want to assign the channels as:

subwoofer (1-2)                    Close L (5)      Close R (6)

Mid L (4)                                                                      Mid R (7)

                                                 Console

Distant L (3)                                                                 Distant R (8)


The "obvious, analogue" way of doing this would be to be able to patch channels 3, 4, 7, and 8 as mono and remap them to different amp inputs, but I can't find a way of doing that. Probably means that I am asking the question in the wrong way.

Any ideas?

(There are no differences between Hauptwerk v7 and v8 that would be relevant to how you could configure it.)
