can't assign physical to logical devices

This used to work via "auto-detect" and then stopped working when I was trying to add an expression pedal

Hauptwerk VII, Mac Air, 11.6

The external keyboard continues to be recognized and work with GarageBand.

MidiMonitor confirms keyboard is sending.

Other routes in HW for pairing logical to physical devices don't work.

Clicking on a virtual key does produce a sound

Etc. Any ideas?

Hello alanone1,

Please try:

- Shut down the computer.

- Completely switch off mains power to all of your hardware (including any USBs, MIDI keyboards, etc.)

- Wait at least 15 seconds, then switch it all back on again and boot the computer.

- After logging into macOS, wait 60 seconds or so to try to ensure that everything has had ample time to finish booting.

- Launch Hauptwerk.

- Go to the "General settings | MIDI ports | MIDI IN ports" screen tab and verify that the MIDI IN port(s) to which your MIDI keyboard(s) connect are still ticked.

- Load the St. Anne's organ.

- Try using right-click auto-detection to auto-detect the virtual Great keyboard.

Does that succeed?

Hi Martin

Yes!

I thought I was doing a cold enough restart, but obviously not. Your sequence worked first time,

P.S. Congrats again on just how wonderful HW is now!

Best wishes

Alan
