Tested it with a few sample sets, got big improvements.

Without detuning, the Groningen sample set has excellent individual stops, but plenum registrations fall flat.

On recordings of the real St Maximin organ, the detuning of the reeds gives a charming effect. In the sample set this effect is missing.

In the Caen sample set , large Anches registrations sound brutal rather than beautiful.

The detuning utility solves all these problems. Generally, sample sets will sound more lively and realistic. So I am grateful too!

If it fixes Caen, I must give it a go. (Could be interesting on Goerlitz and PAB too, which tend to sound a bit sterile at times).

Hi José
Sorry, I don't think I can make it work with HW 4, unfortunately. My Windows version doesn't either, I should add.
Thanks.
Regards
Andy

It's a pity you can't make your utility work with HW4. There are a great many of us who have not upgraded who could benefit. But thanks for your efforts.

With yesterday’s update of Caen, provided free by Sonus Paradisi to those who have the sample set, it is now fixed. The sterility is gone!

How do you tell that an update was released? My Products on the SP site has 2.66 on Caen's download links, which I think is the release that came out for HW 5. I could be remembering wrong.

Edit: I found Jiri's announcement in another thread about a 3rd party extension I don't follow...

Thanks.

2.66 is the new one; it was automatically added to your available downloads.

Andy, I would be thrilled and very grateful to you if you did make your excellent utility compatible with HW4--and I know that I would not be alone!!! Of course, many of us are running HW4 under Windows 7, so I am hoping you will take that into account also. I did attempt to get your utility to function with HW4 under Win7 and, of course, I only verified what you already reported, i.e., that it will not work.

From what's being reported by those who have tried it, I think your utility has the potential to significantly improve just about any sample set. That is a monumental offering to the Hauptwerk community for which you deserve a lot of acknowledgment. THANK YOU!

Hello Andy, and thanks for taking the time to come up with this app! What you've come up with sounds very interesting and I'd like to give it a try as some of my sets also sound a bit too perfectly tuned, that or the results of the sample set is not quite as it is in the real instrument and I feel there could be room for improvement. Anything that adds realism I'm all for!

I've read through this post and maybe I've missed something, but I'm looking for just a basic rundown on how to install and use this app in Windows 7, I'm currently running Hauptwerk v5. I've downloaded both the app and the certificate and they are currently awaiting activation orders on my thumb drive. Where do I go from there?

Thanks again,

Marc

You're most welcome. I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems installing on Windows 7. Unfortunately, I don't understand the bit about "currently awaiting activation..." as there isn't any activation requirement for my app or the certificate. Perhaps you could clarify, please.

Andy

Hello Andy,

Ha! Yeah, you totally misunderstood me, but that's OK. I'm not having any trouble at all, at least not yet that is.

What I was trying to say is I've downloaded both files and they are currently sitting nice and quiet on my thumb drive waiting for me to do something with them, in other words I haven't done anything other than download the files and transfer them to my thumb drive. So......... what I'm looking for at this point is just some basic instructions as to what to do next, how to install them, do I install them first and then start HW, do I start HW first and then install, how to use use your app after the installation, etc, etc.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Marc
