St. Peter & St. Paul Schnitger blower noise

PostFri Feb 19, 2021 1:45 pm

Hi HW Forum,

Is there a way to turn off the blower noise in the Arp Schnitger St. Peter & St. Paul organ?

Thank you,
Karen

Hello Karen,

You can disable the virtual 'rank' for the blower via the 'Organ | Load organ, adjusting rank audio/memory options' screen.

This is another occasion to regret that no update with modern recording techniques + multi releases etc.. seems possible for this very fine and unique organ :-(

Very regrettable, but SP Noordbroek or OAM Steinkirchen should fill roughly the same musical requirements, with more up-to-date sampling and production.

I still play this set quite often. If does in fact have multiple releases. The wind model, and other HW sound engine randomization features work well. Yes, it doesn't have native tremulants or 8 channel surround, but it remains, in my opinion, a fine sounding sample set. A fresh recording would be a good thing, but apparently not possible since it seems the powers that be at the church got their shorts bunched up …

I completely agree with you that the Cappel set sounds very good. As far as I’m concerned, the MDA set that really needs upgrading is the Mt. Carmel Skinner; as we know, it’s been completely resampled, but I’m starting to wonder whether it will actually be released while I’m still alive. I know that this is a frequent complain on the forum, so I’ll shut up now.
