1766 Riepp Dreifaltigkeits Organ Release

PostMon Nov 28, 2022 2:58 am

OrganArt Media is pleased today to be able to announce the Release of the Riepp Dreifaltigkeits (Holy Trinity) organ after a year of development work.

Image
Riepp Organ Specification

The 4-manual Riepp organ, largely preserved in its original state from 1766, with its 51 (66) stops and three tremulants, is one of the most famous organs in the world, and is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful-sounding.
Above all, the numerous lovely flutes, the warm sound blending foundation stops, the powerful, sonorous reeds and the brilliant mixtures with double ranks, result in an extraordinary South German-French sound, which can cover a wide range of organ literature.

Numerous sound examples can already be found on ConcertHall (search “Dreifaltigkeit”)
Concert Hall organ demos

The 4-channel virtual Riepp organ with variable room acoustics/surround (VAR) contains switchable extended keyboard compasses (manuals C-f3, pedal C-f1), so that music from the Romantic period can also be played that goes beyond the original range.

The screen graphics support 16:9 landscape format (Console, Stops, Left, Right, Control page), 4:3 landscape format (Stops, Left, Right) as well as 16:9 portrait format ( Left, Right), in which an almost exact image of the original stops can be achieved with suitably large monitors.

Other special features:
- Possibility to choose between the Vox humana of the small Riepp and the Schalmej of the large Riepp for the Voxho register, in order to restore the presumably correct historical state.

- Choice between current and historical effects of the tremulants on the manuals.
By merging the wind trunks around 1860, the formerly separate tremulants now also work on other manuals

- Detuning unit that realizes natural detuning in the range of +- 5 cents and contributes to the most authentic sound.

- Special manually designed Riepp font to experience the charm of old lettering

- Special ODF (2-channel) only for sound impression in the organ gallery/at the console (will be submitted later as an update)

The USB box version includes a 64 GByte USB3 stick and a printed booklet (to be released later)

Very fine guided tour of an organ described as follows by Peter Williams in his famous book "The European organ, 1450-1850" :

"No verbal description could ever convey the perfection of Ottobeuren Trinity organ, a fine flower sown in France, but cultivated in Germany, its sensual splendour ranging from reeds and mutations, solos of excellent piquancy to perhaps the best organo pleno of its period".

I find it amazing that we can play this world famous and other organs virtually from the comfort of home.

It's a pipedream come true.

I found this reprint of an article about the organs in the basilica by Paul Hale. It is in English.

The organ sounds excellent! I have a few questions about the Riepp organ:

III IV
Quart 2
=> there is no Quart 2 on IV

III IV
Quint 3
=> there is no Quint 3 on IV

How should I understand "III IV" in these two cases?

What is the original acoutic? Front 50% and Rear 50%?

Thanks, I hope so :D

OAM wrote:=> there is no Quart 2 on IV

Please check the specification
https://www.organartmedia.com/en/karl-j ... cification
- Quart 2 IV only in bass section

=> there is no Quint 3 on IV[/quote
- Quint 3 IV only in bass section

All stops of the IV bass section are transmitted to III as expansion of the Cornet Resi
Only Copel 8 IV and Flet 4 IV are consistently playable on bass and treble section of IV

All slider adjustments represent original acoustics. The settings 90:75 represent the sound impression in the sanctuary very well. Different settings are described in the user manual

Ah, understood. The stops Quint/Quart applies to both manuals and bass only.
