Paramount 450 vs 341?

PostFri Dec 30, 2022 5:50 pm

I’ve heard a lot of good comments on the 341 but I already have the 450 and wondering if its worth getting the 341.

Are they essentially the same sound or is the 341 (to my ears at least) a bit more “sassy” and not quite a “lush” as the 450?

Thanks for your comments!

Pat

I was considering between the two, but I settled on the 450. The 450 actually has essentially all the same ranks as the 341. The difference you hear on the recordings online is mostly from extensive voicing. I've found a lot of theatre organ players have done a lot of voicing to their sets, particularly the paramount sets. I've not tried the 341, but if I wanted it edgier, I would just voice it that way. You get a pretty decent discount on the 341 if you have the 450, so you just might want to have both anyway, but I wouldn't get it for the voicing. I think they are both voiced pretty similarly "out of the box."

Thank you Larason2….

When you say discount for the 341, are you referring to the current price shown of $399 for the sample set?

Hi Pat,

If you see the price list on the web site, you see the following discount:

http://www.paramountorganworks.com/scri ... elist.html

With the Paramount 450, you get the 341 for $99. Not sure how to get the discount, maybe you have to email MDA. Not sure if it will tempt you at that price, but it's good to know it exists!

I took this opportunity to purchase the 341 (I have all the others). Very simple process. I wrote to HW support, gave my iLok id, and very quickly received a code from François to puchase at the discounted price of $99. Very simple, very efficient. Quick download, btw.
