Organ at Église Notre-Dame de Vimoutiers in France

PostThu Feb 09, 2023 9:18 am

Organ at Église Notre-Dame de Vimoutiers in France.

Richard McVeigh (BIS) has released a recording of a forthcoming sample set from Sam Sleath. Richard plays Eugène Gigout's 'Scherzo' played on the BIS Organ on the organ of Église Notre-Dame de Vimoutiers in France.
This CAVAILLE-COLL organ has been sampled for Hauptwerk by Sam Sleath and Julian Matthews, and will be available to purchase from https://www.samsleath.com shortly.

The playing is excellent and the sample set sounds very good.

Details of the organ may be found at
http://vimoutiers.net/eglises_churches/wp/notre-dame_2_eng.htm
which l includes a video of the real instrument and at

Interesting, here's the stoplist:

It has 3 manuals, not unlike Notre Dame de Metz, but a bit smaller. Should be a very good set!

I wasn't able to find any videos of the instrument in the provided links so here you go.

If this is indeed the instrument I'll be in line to purchase it.

The link to the video I posted above earlier no longer works, and a search for the video I found is also now gone from YouTube. It appears as though it was intentionally taken down.

What's the big secret? Kind of an odd way of introducing a new set and gathering potential interested buyers. Is this upcoming set being actively promoted or not?

Interesting. The sample set does sound very good. I've not seen Richard McVeigh's Hauptwerk setup before. It looks like he has to take off and put on pull heads for every stop of every organ! That's a lot of work! He's a very good organist though, and I'm sure it must be great to have so many pull stops at your disposal for the big organs. Looking forward to this set, it seems just my taste.
