New Sample set of the Thomas Vianen organ

PostTue Feb 28, 2023 11:13 am

It was already noticed by Mr. Lefranc and Voet for which we thank them for posting this at the forum but it is with great pleasure again that we can proudly announce to the Hauptwerk community, the completion of our new sampleset of the Thomas organ (2010) of the Grote Kerk of Vianen (Netherlands).
Image
It is built in a case of Abraham Meere from 1803 and has mechanical chests, 29 stops divided on 2 manuals and pedal.

The organbuilder made several smart features so 1 stop could be used as 2.
So there is a separate stop for the Prestant 8 Disc. which would normally be built as a 'double chorus' but the organbuilder made it as a separate stop so you have 2 'different' Prestant 8 in the Discant you can choose.
Besides he made a feature that when pulling the Prestant 8 D half way, it sounds detuned and it then becomes the Unda Maris.
The same 'trick' did he with the Sexquialter. Pulled half way, you get the Quint 2 2/3 and pulled completely, you get the actual Sexquialter.
With the Mixtuur you get the 'normal' pitches when pulled half and completely pulled, it adds Thirds to it.
So there are a lot of possibilities due to these features.

The instrument is very good for Baroq music as you can hear in the demo's. On the other hand the typical Dutch Choral style is also very nice on this instrument, especially because of the lovely tremulant and the nice windmodel.
In the real instrument there is no separate stop for the Tremulant on the 'Manuaal' but we created one for further possibilities.

All of the history of this instrument can be read at our website:
https://www.hauptwerk.nl/vianenen.php
https://www.hauptwerk.nl/speeltafelvianenen.php

Of course this sampleset also uses our '3 channel' slider technology which give the user the possibility of playing the organ at the perspective he likes the most.

The church acoustics is very warm and the rear channel contains up to 6 seconds of reverb.

Listen to the demo's on our website:
https://www.hauptwerk.nl/mp3vianenen.php or on ContreBombarde Browse for "Vianen".

We wish you a lot of playing and listening pleasure.

Yours, The Sygsoft Holland team.

Thank you for the explanation of the two-position stops. It might be nice if you added this information to your description of the organ on your website, for the benefit of those who do not read your post on this forum.

I have also enjoyed listening to the organ on Contrebombarde.
