Free scores (books) giveaway

Hello everybody,

I have some scores of my music to give away.

[1] »Sechs Choralpartiten«. I have a few remaining copies of the first edition with corrections penciled in. In 2023 I will be issuing a second edition of this to correct all the errors in this first edition (there were many). See it here:

[2] »24 Präludien und Fugen, Band 1« this is the second edition, and these books are from a proof printing of that which has too-narrow margins, so I can't sell them normally, though they are still perfectly readable. See it here:

I only ask you to pay for shipping. Everything ships from Germany. The fees per book are:

Within Germany: 3€
Everywhere else: 8€

These fees already have a PayPal fee factored in. If you'd like to have a book or books, please send me a note through

Peace and blessings to you,

I would be careful about giving these away without first checking your contract with the publishers. Normally books which have printing errors such as these are destroyed and replaced with a corrected print run. By giving them away to people who might otherwise have bought them you are denying the publisher sales. As the composer you may be comfortable with giving away your intellectual property for nothing, but it is also potentially eating into the publisher's profits and if they have not agreed that you can do this you may find yourself the wrong side of a lawsuit.

Hello Julian,

I understand your concern, but there's nothing to worry about in this case, as I am the publisher. I could just throw these out, but that seems an awful waste to me. It's true that giving these away is "eating into the publisher's profits" I suppose, if you can call the few Euros a year I get from selling scores a "profit" (I have to laugh a little). I'm definitely not getting rich selling scores. On the contrary, it costs me a lot, not to mention the huge investment of time involved. My reason for doing it all is not to make money, but to share.

BTW, I forgot to mention the connection with Hauptwerk here, in case the moderator might want to chastise me for using the forum for my own purposes — the recording of »Sechs Choralpartiten« which you can find here on bandcamp ... full-album was made with the beautiful Bosch-Schnitger organ of Vollenhove from OrganArtMedia (and the recording is free according to the OAM user agreement).

Peace and blessings,
