What a treasure trove and resource of great music, all 15 selections. Thanks
for sharing, Drew. Where else, other than with Hauptwerk, wonderful sample
sets and a truly superb installation, could such a vast musical variety be
experienced. With texture and musical expression, a true example of what
(Hauptwerk based) music is all about. :D

Happy and joyful Holidays and the best of what Christmas and the season
has to offer is our wish for all.

Thanks for posting Drew! You have done a wonderful job on the installation. Well thought out.

I tried posting about your previous concert but my account was deactivated for some reason. :(
I was finally reactivated yesterday. :D

You've made it a little warmer up here in the frozen north.

Merry Christmas!

One more recording is now up on YouTube - Festive Christmas Classics, using the Armley Schulze with the Crossroads Brass Band.

Noticed (understandably?) that the organ got slightly 'diminished' by some heavy duty brass. Nice program, tho Thanks for sharing.

You think the organ is loud until you put 24 brass players in there. Haha!

Seriously, though, I think the trim was turned down.

Does the volume trim affect only the current instrument, or does it affect the entire program (Hauptwerk)?

So the GUMC Hauptwerk organ is getting a pretty substantial upgrade.....

4 new manuals, and 90 new back-lit thumb pistons (a substantial upgrade from the original 20), plus an additional 10 (for a total of 20) toe studs.

The new manuals are coming from Arnold Organs. I simply do not have time to devote to the project to build it all myself, and doing it myself saves us minimal money compared to having someone else do it. Matt came highly recommended by several folks here on the forum.

Does anyone have any experience with their 2nd touch manuals? I stopped by Carlton Smith's shop today and tried out a Barton and a Wurlitzer console and I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to make the lowest manual 2nd touch. Without having one on hand to try out, I'm hesitant, though. Anyone?

The volume trim in Hauptwerk is a per organ setting.

Edit: Just noticed that was an old question...

I wanted to mention, that the organ will be an optional tour during the ATOS National Convention this year - July 9th and 10th.

https://www.atos.org/convention

Official times aren't listed, yet, but if you happen to be attending, or in the area, I hope you'll come hear Justin Nimmo play, and help yourself to some open console time. If you are planning to attend, I would appreciate it if you RSVP (though it certainly isn't required) at this link: https://www.greenwoodumc.org/hauptwerk-organ

RSVP-ing just gives me some idea as to how many people to expect - I want everyone to get time on the console if they want - but also gives me/us a way to contact everyone when an official time is set, as well as reach out to you in case of an emergency/cancellation etc. (God forbid!)

Hope to see you there.

Thank you for the response. I have decided to forego 2nd touch altogether. Maybe next time.

It appears that the ATOS National Convention has been rescheduled from this year out to July 2021. COVID-19 has certainly brought us some strange times.

I attended the dedication event at Greenwood UMC last year and came away most impressed by the organ, the performances, and Drew’s hospitality. Many thanks! It’s my hope that Drew will continue to to announce major events via this forum.

Be safe out there.

Same here. Very well done dedication event. Just being there was a source (inspiration) for many new ideas for me.
Unfortunately this COVID-19 virus is a hit in the git along. Having some issues getting parts generally, even those not from abroad.Shipping times for sure are effected. A person needs to think way ahead. As well our focus has shifted to what is really important long term.

Certainly will, gents. Keep an eye on this form for more updates.

This thread has become the largest on the Hauptwerk forum by a considerable margin. It is one of the best outlets to get information out regarding the instrument.

Dont forget to subscribe on YouTube, or the church website at: www.greenwoodumc.org if you're interested in getting emailed directly. (I am the website admin, so I won't be spamming you.... I usually send an email once a month with upcoming events at the church - some music related, some not.)

Stay safe out there.
