Notes Drop after starting to play

Post by SKresge »

Not sure if this is the right section to post this or not.

All of a sudden on the choir manual, after striking and holding a note, it will stop and then if I re-strike it, it will sound again.

It is random on which key it occurs, and happens maybe once in a piece here and there.

Would this be a midi issue, or software? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hello Scott,

It could be that your MIDI keyboard/encoder is misbehaving and turning its notes off (check its power supply, and MIDI connections/cables for good measure), or that some part of your MIDI console is occasionally sending a MIDI message that's triggering something unintended in Hauptwerk.

I'd suggest loading St. Anne's, then temporarily turning on the "General settings | General preferences | Diagnostics: log all MIDI messages received and sent" setting in Hauptwerk, then trying to reproduce the problem, and as soon as it occurs use "Help | View activity log" to see the last MIDI messages received and what virtual controls the triggered (if other than MIDI note-off messages from the keys).
Best regards, Martin.

Martin,

I was thinking that might be a possibility, and wanted to confirm.

The company that built the console is coming tomorrow to address some midi component issues.

If it occurs after we get the other stuff fixed, I will do as you say with St. Anne's.

Thanks as always for being prompt and on point!
