Hello all,
I had a quick question regarding the recently released Buckeburg free sample set from Sonus Paradisi. I recently installed the free set and went to do some voicing last night and discovered that some of the stops you can voice and some you can not. I checked the Sonus Paradisi site to see if there's any mention of this and I'm not finding anything.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Marc
Buckeburg voicing / can't voice question
Re: Buckeburg voicing / can't voice question
It works in Organ settings | Rank voicing -- works on all stops -- but the right click menu omitted it on some. I have the free Janke on Hauptwerk 7.

I thought it was a bit odd that you could voice some stops and not others. I was thinking at first it was a limitation to the free set. Yes, I too have it up and running on v7 and it is a very nice sounding set, I just need to tame a few of the higher pitched ranks, mixtures in particular.

Re: Buckeburg voicing / can't voice question
I have the Buckerburg set and I love it. I am in London at the moment and away from my HW set-up, which is in Wiltshire. However, I seem to remember reading something about some of the stops being extensions of other ranks. If that is the case, then perhaps only the donor pipes can be voiced and not the borrowed ones.
I don't do much voicing, apart from dealing with some resonances in my music room in the lowest octave of 16' stops and the bottom two octaves of 32'. For some organs the 32' seems to be a downward extension of a corresponding 16' stop and voicing has to be done for both of them as a single rank (e.g. a 16' pedal principle going down an additional octave on the voicing screen).
So I think it is likely that you will be able to voice any of the pipes but you may find for some of them that this affects two stops not one.

Re: Buckeburg voicing / can't voice question
After a bit of hunting on the internet, I found two descriptions of the stop list for the actual physical organ. The only rank that was listed as an extension is the 32 foot pedal stop. So that's presumably the only rank in the sample set that is an extension of another stop.
I have a question about voicing an individual note on for example the great octave 4 foot.
When the voicing screen opens up it lists all the different "ranks"/channels/perspectives for the stop, for example front defuse, front direct, etc. I haven't seen any way of lumping these together for a particular stop and then making an adjustment that affects all of them.
Earlier today I was adjusting the volume on several of the 4' pipes and ultimately focussed on the front direct "rank". Is there a better way of doing this?

Yes, use the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard to select the desired stop in all 3 perspectives. I think the faders will turn yellow to signify you've have more than one stop selected.Tompion wrote: When the voicing screen opens up it lists all the different "ranks"/channels/perspectives for the stop, for example front defuse, front direct, etc. I haven't seen any way of lumping these together for a particular stop and then making an adjustment that affects all of them.

Hello Tompion,
Lest there be any confusion, Danny's referring to holding down the Ctrl key on the computer keyboard (as opposed to pressing anything on a MIDI keyboard) whilst clicking on multiple ranks in the rank list on the voicing screen, so as to 'multi-select' them.magnaton wrote:use the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard

Re: Buckeburg voicing / can't voice question
Interesting this should come up as I just attempted to raise the volume of the trumpet on the free version the other night and I was unable to do that. I sat and scratched my head for a few then gave up figuring due to it being free that there are some limitations. It doesn't work in the same fashion as the other sets I have where I can select the rank in question where you can adjust things like amplitude, etc., etc.
Maybe I'm missing something?

Thank you to both you and magnaton. My computer keyboard is some distance from the organ console but the cable on my headphones is quite long so I'll give this a go later in the day.mdyde wrote:Hello Tompion,

Marc, I'm not sure about the cause of your issue. Apart from the issue I raised in my original email, I had no difficulty adjusting the volume of individual great octave 4' pipes. I saw a long list of other ranks and assumed that all of the organ's ranks, including the trumpet, are listed. And, yes, like you I'm using the free version.

Did you go to Organ settings | Rank voicing (etc) and multi-select the ranks for the stop you want to voice, select the voicing parameter, and use the MSTR slider to change it?1961TC4ME wrote:Interesting this should come up as I just attempted to raise the volume of the trumpet on the free version the other night and I was unable to do that.
