No sound

Hello friends!

I desperately need help:
For almost 4 weeks now, I have tried to set Up my Hauptwerk8. But now I am tired of not getting any sound. The reason is of course my little knowlegde into the aerea of computing. More like zero - blank. My set up is: Hauptwerk 8, Lenovo Thinkcenter, I9 motherboard with 128 GB RAM and a PRESONUS 1824c Interface and ASIO4 all.
When loading the Hauptwerk, I get a message saying "No Connection." Some times I have stumbled on a connection and therefor also for a little moment sound. But I can also hear that something is not correct. So I have to close the Computer down. And next time: Now sound again, so now I am so confused that I am almost afraid of trying again.

Anyone that can guide me?

Hello oyko,

I would suggest:

- Exit Hauptwerk if it's running.

- Make sure the latest driver is installed for your Presonus Studio 1824c: https://uk.presonus.com/pages/support-d ... -downloads

- If possible, make sure that the Presonus is connected to a USB port directly on your computer (not via a hub). If that isn't possible, then make sure you use a good-quality (reputable brand) USB hub, with its own dedicated mains power supply.

- Follow these instructions (from the Hauptwerk user guide) to prevent Windows putting things to sleep (especially its option for putting USB devices to sleep):

• Disable all Windows power-saving functions, including the options for putting USB ports/devices to sleep. For example, on Windows 10 you would use 'Windows Control Panel | System | Power and sleep | Additional power settings', select the 'High performance' power plan, then click its 'Change plan settings | Change advanced power settings', then make sure that the settings are set as follows:
Sleep: Hibernate after = Never (for 'plugged in' if present)
USB settings: USB selective suspend setting = Disabled (for 'plugged in' if present)
PCI Express: Link state power management = Off (for 'plugged in' if present)

- Make sure that Windows isn't set to use your Presonus as its default output or input device. To do that, right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom-right of the Windows task bar, select "Open Sound settings", and ensure that the "Choose your output/input device" options are *not* set to use your Presonus.

- Launch Hauptwerk.

- On the "General settings | Audio device ..." screen within Hauptwerk v8, select your manufacturer's ASIO driver (not ASIO4All).

- Now load the St. Anne's organ and test whether you have sound.

Why do you use ASIO4all? The Presonus interface has its own ASIO-drivers. I would install these instead. I also use the Presonus for my recordings and it works without any problems.
