Rieger organ at St. Paul's Church in Dortmund - free sample set
I am happy to inform everyone that completed my new sample set of Rieger Organ from Dortmund . The organ has two manuals and pedal and 29 stops.
The sample set is free to download and use!
Dortmund is the third-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia The population is 595.000.
St. Paul's Church in Dortmund was built in 1894. The present Rieger organ is - after organs by Walcker and Kemper - the third organ in St. Paul's Church. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of St. Paul's Church, the building was renovated and the decision to build a new organ was taken at the same time. The new Rieger organ went into operation in 1994. Since then, it has been one of the best organs in Dortmund and was often played by renowned concert organists in its early days. The position of the organ behind the altar has a number of advantages, especially when playing with other instrumentalists and entire orchestras.
The recording for the hauptwerk sample was made by Dr. Michael Lütge in 2024. He prepared the audio files and did the main work. I did the fine-tuning of the files, created simple graphics and edited the ODF file. This hauptwerk sample is the result of the work of the two of us, of which Michael took on the greater part. I really hope that this sample is only the beginning of our joint work, and that it will continue in the future.
The sample sets are available in wave format 48kHz/24bit, stereo, multiple loops (8) and multiple releases (3 levels).
Equal, a=440 Hz. The reverb 1.8s, reflects the original acoustics of the church.
Hauptwerk v4.2 and v5-v9 supported for the Organ Definition Files.
The sample sets made in several forms.
Stereo near, stereo far and four-channels surround.
In the surround versions you can adjust the perspective by setting the volume of the near, and far recordings.
The sample RAM requirement is not high, the stereo version requires 6 -7 GB, the surround version requires 12-14 GB for 16-24-bit loading.

This looks very interesting, Augustine, the organ is quite similar in spec to a local Rieger, which might make for a very useful instrument in my collection.
One problem is that I haven't been able to get to your website at all since this announcement, it keeps timing out. Looking forward to downloading when I can.

I don't understand this. Can't you access my website? Or doesn't the download start when you click the download button? My website is accessible from anywhere, with any device, I've tested it several times. My provider is hostinger.com, which is very reliable. The download is done from the Swiss cloud provider (Infomaniak), which is fast and reliable, and is constantly available. I think there's something wrong with you. What browser are you using? Maybe you should try clearing your browser history, cache, and cookies, that might help.MeOulSegosha wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 5:19 am One problem is that I haven't been able to get to your website at all since this announcement, it keeps timing out. So, interestingly I was on holiday in Tenerife when I saw your post, and I tried to go to your website to read more without any success. I tried over multiple days and always the same. I tried following links in your post, I tried going directly to your homepage, I tried following a Google search, no luck. This would have been both using local WiFi and local mobile service in Tenerife.takatsa wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 2:30 amI don't understand this. Can't you access my website? David,
The download link is at the bottom of the "more information" page (link) in the first post.
Here is the download url
https://kdrive.infomaniak.com/app/share ... ae21eb1c9d
You need to download both of the files into the same folder and tell HW to install the first file (ending in 01).
It should automatically also install the second file).

Dear Takatsa,
the Dortmund sample set is beautiful!
but i have found a small problem, every time I load the organ, Hauptwerk loads it as if it were the first time. All the other organs do not have this problem.
Thank you very much for the gift

I have manged to install. All my downloads use Free Download Manager which this seemed to override.
Sounds good though!

Re: Rieger organ at St. Paul's Church in Dortmund - free sample set
I've never heard of such a thing. If you install both files (the order is important!), then you will see three versions that you can load: wet, dry and surround. If you load the surround, the first load will take a long time, the next load will be fast. However, if you loaded the surround version last time and the next time you load the wet or dry version, the load time will be long again. I think this is your problem. Unfortunately, this will always be the case, because the wet and dry and surround versions use the same organ ID. It is possible that other providers have three different IDs. Both solutions have their advantages and disadvantages.
The point is: if you always use the same version (e.g. surround), your loads will be fast. But if you switch between versions, the first load will be slow again.

I am very happy with the comments of all my dear forum members and thank you for your interest. I see that the download or installation difficulties are resolved spontaneously.
I wish everyone a lot of joy in using the sample set.

Yes, Augustine, it's as you say. If I understood correctly, I should only and always play the "surround" and adjust the perspective with the dedicated commands. So I shouldn't use the "dry" and "wet" perspective.
Thanks again
Arp
