PostMon Feb 27, 2006 6:04 pm

Hello everybody :D ,
it's the first time that I write in this forum but it's since a year that I find usefull informations in that.
I thank you for the informations you put in.
I decide to post some pictures about the work I'm doing to know what do you think about.
Thanks to who take "alive" this forum.

Seriously impressive, particularly the drawstops. Would you mind elaborating on the design for these?

Thanks,

I'm very impressed. Do you have room for thumb pistons between the keyboards?

Hi James,

I attach some photos regarding the development of the drawstops project and the

components list i've used. There is also a video with my first test.

Component list :

4 threaded Bars ø 5mm - L = 250 mm
4 iron sheet pierced 45 x 35 x 2 mm

1 Tube aluminum ø Ext. 10 mm - ø Int. 8 - L = 240 mm
1 Round mm iron ø 8 milimeter - L = 90 mm 2 threaded Bars ø 8mm - L = 35 mm
12 Bolts 5 mm

8 Tubes brass/aluminum ø Int. 5 - L = 40 mm
4 Tubes brass/aluminum ø Int. 5 - L = 60 mm
4 Tubes brass/aluminum ø Int. 5 - L = 20 mm
4 Tubes brass/aluminum ø Int. 5 - L = 10 mm
1 plastic sheet 40 x 20 x 2 mm
2 Tubes (PLEXIGLASS) ø Ext. 10 mm - ø Int. 8 mm

Hi Ted,

Yes, my intention is to mount thumb pistons between the keyboards.
In commerce do not exist any with depth lower than 16 mm (sorry for my bad english).

Image

Currently I'm building lighted thumb pistons with depth(in the wood) = 10 mm. I hope to attach soon some photos.

Ziobillj - A belated thanks for the drawstop insights. Inspired, I'm seriously considering experimenting building my own. Presumably I can use off-the shelf solenoids in place of your home built ones? Could you give me further insight into what the circuit is doing?

Thanks again,

James

Hi James,

I had to build my own drawstops because I couldn't find them off the shelf with a suitable excursion. (this project is not very chip)

Yes, you can use off-the shelf solenoids if they have same specs.
200 Ohms, ettc.

Following the circuit specs :

Hi-Res pcb BMP
http://www.effecomp.it/pub/organ/3/Layout_CP_20060418.zip

IMPORTANT NOTE :

Circuit's 32 volt power must be fed only to position the drawstop. After positioning 32 Volts must be cut off to avoid coil melting/overheating.

Ziobillj - Many thanks again. Sorry about all the questions, where exactly does the draw stop rod make contact in order to complete/break the circuit - I can't quiet make it out from your posts?

Hope that your build is going well.

I'm posting this schema to show how it works.
I used infrared leds to avoid any mechanical switch.

To the original poster of this thread - Could you kindly re-upload your images? It seems that they are removed from the thread (perhaps because it is a rather old thread). Would you mind? :D

I have been using Infrared Switches on my Pedal-board, (32 Note), as well as my two Keyboards,
and lower keyboard has second touch, "all IR switches" and they perform much better than mechanical switches on my organ for about two years.
I am more than happy to assist you, in setting up this totally positive switching system !
IM me for info.
