General cancel button activates stops

Post by laurentiui »

A stop is activated when I press the General cancel button. How can I reset it to cancel all the stops?
Thank you

Turn off all stops, then "Hit the Set and Cancel pistons together" .,
(Also, be Sure that your Crescendo is at its "0 Position.)

This depends on which combon system you are using, it should work on most !
(The Cancel piston is usually just a General Piston that is set to [All Stops Off].)

If you're using Hauptwerk's native combination system then that won't normally work (at least, not for any existing sample sets as far as I know).

The effect of the general cancel piston (which stops it affects) is defined by the sample set producer and it doesn't normally support capture (although that too is defined by the sample set producer), so its effect is usually fixed.

Hence you'll probably need to raise that with the maker of the sample set in question.

On a few organs with ventils, right clicking on the ventil and adjusting MIDI settings to check or uncheck the on by default toggle (initially on? Forgot the wording) changed whether the master general cancel turned the stop on or off. It does depend on the organ's internal wiring, though. On a few organs, I had to have my console's cancel button push a master general combination to get general cancel set up the way I want it.

There was also a trick with Caen, I think, where you have to check the on by default setting for each screen's icon for the same ventil.
