I have and use Midi-Ox and love it. My question is this: If I'm running Hauptwerk and it is sending midi signals OUT (for example to an external sound module, or the lights on piston buttons), should that appear in Midi-Ox in the Output Monitor? The input midi signals appear in the Input Monitor just fine, but seems like there should be corresponding OUT signals on the two channels where there are outputs.
Screen shots are nearly impossible on this forum, but on the Midi Devices screen, on Port Mapping, it shows Port 1 (the keyboards and piston rails) and Port 4 (the external sound module).
The lights are working on the pistons, and the external sound module is working. Clearly, HW is sending Midi out signals. I would like to see in Midi-Ox exactly what signal (note) they are sending. This is to solve a little problem with the decoder for my pistons.
Appreciate any assistance.

Re: Question on Hauptwerk and Midi-Ox
Hello David,
To use MIDI-OX to monitor Hauptwerk's output you would need to:
- Route the MIDI output from Hauptwerk to MIDI-OX's input (instead of to your sound module) by using some 'virtual MIDI cable' software, such as loopMIDI: https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html . You would change Hauptwerk to use loopMIDI as its MIDI OUT port (instead of your real MIDI OUT port), then in MIDI-OX you would enable loopMIDI as a MIDI IN port.
- Configure MIDI-OX to forward its input to your real MIDI OUT port.
I.e. MIDI-OX would sit between Hauptwerk and the real MIDI OUT port, monitoring MIDI messages as they passed through it.
As an alternative to using MIDI-OX or loopMIDI, you could temporarily enable the "General settings | General preferences | Diagnostics: log all MIDI messages received and sent" setting in Hauptwerk, then after making Hauptwerk send the relevant MIDI messages use "Help | View activity log" straight away to see the last MIDI messages that Hauptwerk sent.

Re: Question on Hauptwerk and Midi-Ox
Excellent. I think your second suggestion will be more useful. Just trying to troubleshoot some issues with new keyboard and encoders/decoders.
