Audio Recording

Post by Sample_02 »

Normally when a Midi recording is made then, when selected, also an audio recording can be made by Hauptwerk.
I could not manage how to make an audio recording when an existing Midi file is played back in Hauptwerk.
What I already did so far is that I have pressed the red record button and then the green Midi (play) button.
At the end of the play session I have specified a filename. But I do not find anything.
Maybe I am doing something wrong.
I am using HW v 4.2

Hello Sample_02,

Briefly (since Hauptwerk v4 is no longer officially supported, although most of the same applies in v8) to render a previously-recorded MIDI file to audio in Hauptwerk v4:

- On the "General settings | Audio outputs" screen, for the audio output entry in the left-hand list from which you want to record, make sure that the "Recording format" setting is *not* set to "Recording disabled from this output". [In Hauptwerk v5-v8 this is instead done on the "General settings | Audio mixer" screen.]

- Make sure that the organ is loaded and that the "Recorder/Player" large control panel is visible ("View | Large floating control panels ...").

- Make sure that the desired folder for recordings is selected using the "Recording | Choose folder for recorded audio/MIDI files" option from the main menu.

- Make sure the MIDI file is loaded in Hauptwerk's audio/MIDI recorder player (on the Recorder/Player control panel).

- On the control panel, make sure that "Arm audio recording" *is* ticked, and that "Arm MIDI recording" is *not* ticked.

- Click the Record button, then click the Play button.

- When the piece has finished, click the Stop button.

- You should then find that the corresponding audio recording (.wav file) has been created in whatever folder you specified.

[I'll move this topic to the "Technical support" section of the forum once you've had a chance to read it.]

Thank you for your quick reply.
After reading your instructions, I had the feeling that I have exactly done this earlier.
Investigating it again it was a "path to the right map"- problem.
Problem is solved.
