It looks like there's one or two (small) bugs in Hauptwerk 8.
I've attached a mini computer keyboard via USB. It sends normal characters ('a' .. 'i'). These characters show up in e.g. Notepad.
Issue 1 is that the stepper next and previous button don't respond to the assigned keys when the touch window is in front, but do work when the main window is in front.
Issue 2 is similar, yet not identical. It happens with keybindings to Load User Preset 1, 2 and 3. I've assigned three keys to switch between them, but they don't work unless the "Settings" window that contains the buttons for Load User Preset 1, 2 and 3 has been shown. After that, they work on the other screens as well.
This was only tested using Piotr Grabowski's Landau.
And compliments for the new forum. It feels a lot snappier.
Key binding bugs in HW8?
Re: Key binding bugs in HW8?
Hello tgv,
Using computer keys to try to trigger functions that were auto-detected to them sometimes works when the touch menu has the keyboard input focus, but sometimes not (seemingly unpredictably). It seems to be a bug in the way the multi-platform library we use for Hauptwerk propagates computer key events from its touch system. I'll log it as a known issue for the next Hauptwerk version.
As work-arounds, if you use the touch menu I would recommend either avoiding auto-detecting computer keys to functions altogether (e.g. use MIDI pistons or Novation Launchpad's buttons instead, which work via MIDI), or if you do want to use computer keys then ensure that the touch menu doesn't have the keyboard input focus when using them.

Re: Key binding bugs in HW8?
It's a bit impractical, since the main screen and the touch screen overlap, which makes it hard to see where the stepper is. But if I understand you properly, other screens such as the mini stepper ruler and the old registration window should work?
Ok, I tested that, and indeed, that seems to do the trick. It's not as nice as the touch screen, but while playing it suffices. Thanks.
