Dear forum members,
Have to build a new PC for Hauptwerk.
Question: Is it wise to go for the new Intel Ultra or the older 14th generation?
Thanks for your thoughts

The new Intel Utra CPU
Re: The new Intel Utra CPU
There've been performance complaints for gaming with the Ultra 2xx line, but I don't know whether those would affect Hauptwerk much. Supposedly new software and BIOS updates this month are addressing as much of that as Intel has admitted. You can search for Intel Core Ultra problems to read about it.
There were also production problems with some of the Core 14x00 line last year, so it isn't obvious that gen 14 would be more stable -- you might have to get a replacement for a faulty CPU unless those were all recalled out of the sales pipeline by now.
Benchmark comparisons put the Ultra 9 285K pretty far ahead of the 14900K on performance. Nanoreview will compare them for a few benchmarks. Passmark also has a list of CPUs you can sort by multicore or single core performance.
I'd also consider buying an AMD 9950X, which performs about the same as the Intel 9 285K, based on nanoreview's comparison.
