1)The start of HW 9 only starts after 10 sec, that wasn't the case with HW8.
2) Under " Organ" I can't find Organ reset switch to initial setting,.
Thanks for answer.

Re: HW9
Hello münsterorganist,
If it's being slow for you, then probably either:
1. The iLok system is taking a while for some reason. If you have an iLok dongle, in iLok License Manager check that your Hauptwerk v9 licence is activated to your dongle (not to iLok Cloud, since if on iLok Cloud it would need to connect to the Internet which is likely to be slower).
2. Some audio or MIDI device/driver on the computer is being slow when queried for some reason.
3. The touch menu is being slow to open. Try applying any available operating system updates, and make sure that your computer's graphics drivers are up to date. (The same would have applied in v8, but some people didn't use the touch menu in v8.) v9 takes only 3-4 seconds to launch for me, regardless of whether the touch menu open, but a few people found that older graphics drivers might cause the touch menu to be slow to open, which they solved by updating drivers.
- The "Reset: Keys/All" buttons on the "Engine" tab on the touch menu allow you to reset the states of the currently load organ.
If one of those wasn't what you were looking for, could you clarify specifically which function from v8 you're referring to?
When launching Hauptwerk, first the iLok system checks that a valid licence is present, and then it launches Hauptwerk itself. Also, the first thing that Hauptwerk itself does is to query the list of audio and MIDI drivers from the operating system. None of that has changed between v8 and v9, and v8 and v9 take about the same amount of time to launch on my PC (3-4 seconds, in either case -- I just tested a number of times).münsterorganist wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 5:25 am 1)The start of HW 9 only starts after 10 sec, that wasn't the case with HW8.

Re: HW9
Dear Martin,
thanks for the quick replay. To 2): I have found the button.Thanks. To 1): When I switched to HW 9 I had audio problems, which I didn't have before under 8, whatever. After some research I read, that I always have to run HW in real time.. Because I had to do this again every time I restarted Win 11, I installed the"System Informer" app, which now automatically gives realtime priority when HW starting. I think, that can explain the delay. Thanks for your help.

Re: HW9
I can confirm that Hauptwerk 9, from the first beta version through release 9.0.1, takes about 3 - 4 seconds longer to start than HW8, 10 - 11 seconds total on my PC (corrected below -- it's improved). I just assumed it has more initialization to do and didn't worry about it. But it certainly could be extra time for the touch menu to start, which I didn't use in HW8.
My Windows 11 and graphics drivers (Intel Integrated graphics) are up to date, as is iLok.

Re: HW9
Thanks, Mark.
If you close the touch menu before exiting, then re-launch (so that the touch menu won't be open when Hauptwerk launches), does that allow it to start quicker? Is your Hauptwerk v9 licence on a dongle?

Re: HW9
Yes, iLok licenses are on a USB key. Network is disabled.
It's actually gotten 2 seconds faster since the last time I timed the startup. At that time, the touch menu was always in its own window.
HW startup times to its window(s) displayed and ready:
Touch menu in its own window: 9 seconds after PC shutdown and reboot, 8 seconds without reboot or with PC restart only.
Docked in console window or no touch menu: 7 seconds with or without PC reboot.
It's not a problem. I wait 15 - 20 seconds for audio and MIDI before starting HW anyway.
Thanks.
